About Me

Lisa Patterson is a licensed practical counselor (LPC) for the state of Alabama a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) for the state of Florida, a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC).

I received my master's degree in 1998 from Troy State University at Dothan, Alabama. I've had extensive training in various child and adolescent problems ranging from Attention Deficit Disorder, anger problems, conduct disorder, low self esteem, depression, divorce, self mutilation, grief/loss issues, eating disorders and various other behavioral problems.

I have worked in the mental health field for over 15 years, most of which have been devoted to helping children and families overcome difficulties which often arise in life.

I actively serve in several counseling associations in addition to being a member of the Covington County Children's Policy Council, and Covington County Red Cross and I am an avid SCUBA diver.

I have three sons and have made Covington County my home for over 20 years. Though I am officially an "Air Force Brat", my grandparents and parents are from this area and I'm proud to call it "Home".

My Philosophy

Children learn from their surroundings and interactions with others and problems rarely occur in a vacuum. Often change is necessary in many areas of a child's life before positive change can occur within the child. It is for this reason that it usually take sthe help of the family, with a little assistance, to overcome problems. You know your child the best.

Child's Play Counseling Services officially opened in October 2001 on a part time basis and is now open full time from 8 - 5 most days.
